Reptilian Records and its proprietor, Chris X, are currently in a
tizzy. The building where X opened his fiercely independent
underground establishment 15 years ago is up for sale, but he
can't afford to buy it. So whether the store is staying or moving,
Reptilian needs to raise some funds to keep everything going
smoothly. But we're not just giving Reptilian propers because we
like the place. The Reptilian imprint has spit out a few bona fide
rib-cage bruisers in the past year. It unleashed the first CD from
Stu Spasm's Lubricated Goat, The Great Old Ones, in a decade, and
recently let loose a rough and tumble live CD, Enough Already, from
New York's ballsy Action Swingers. But its two best outings come
from closer to home. Flowers in the Attic's bare-knuckled CD EP
debut is just as tooth-loosening as it was when it first slapped us
last December. And the Hatebeak/Longmont Potion Castle split 7-inch
is in a class all by itself.
LPC is a long-running Colorado-based recorder of phone
conversations/pranks, and the two "metal interludes" here are
so-so instrumental mayhem. Hatebeak, however, is the heavy trio of
local metal guys Mark and Blake and Waldo, an African gray parrot.
Yes, we're talking bird-squawking death-metal vocals here on two
tracks sublimely titled "Beak of Putrefaction" and "God of Empty
Nest."
Whether or not this is the best underground 7-inch of 2004 remains to
be seen, but that it's the only underground 7-inch covered by
ParrotChronicles.com you can bet your ass.

Stockholm based concrete metal band Nerved released their debut album
"Off Line" on the 17th of november.
The album is released through label Sphère de Feu and is distributed
by MMS Records/Sony Music.
Signed copies of the album are already available for advance booking

Swedish well known fiddler Kalle Moreaus makes a guest appearance on

in Nyköping (Träffen).
